Meet the first founder & CEO
Recently graduating with a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from Memorial University of Newfoundland, Shelby, the founder of Beaux 3D—a 3D printing business focused on designing and manufacturing useful, functional products for everyday life—has built a career path shaped by equal parts engineering, creativity, and entrepreneurship. Driven by a constant tendency to question how things could work better, look better, or make life easier, what began as small ideas and side projects evolved into designing products and building 2 businesses from the ground up.
While balancing a demanding engineering degree, Shelby independently launched and scaled Beaux 3D from a single 3D printer and a handful of online listings into a growing manufacturing business with 6 Bambu Lab printers producing custom and functional products for customers across Newfoundland and around the world. Through managing every aspect of operations—including CAD design, production, and fulfillment—the business grew rapidly, surpassing early revenue milestones and expanding production capacity through continuous reinvestment and iteration. Along the way, Shelby and partner Jordan, secured collaborations with local businesses, expanded into in-person markets, and transformed engineering skills into tangible products people actively use in their everyday lives.
Growing up in the small town of Eastport, Newfoundland and Labrador, creating became a way of creating opportunities where there were not many. Every interest became an experiment. Every opportunity became a dare. Craft fairs became product launches, and handmade ideas became accidental lessons in design, value creation, and understanding what people actually wanted.
Long before engineering became a degree or entrepreneurship became a career path, Shelby was already building. For years, she joined her grandmother at local markets with increasingly ambitious ideas and an enthusiasm that usually exceeded available materials and common sense. One year it was rainbow loom—starting with bracelets and somehow escalating into oversized purses, wallets, and creations that probably should not have existed entirely out of rubber bands, but did anyway. Another year became homemade dog biscuits, complete with product variations and considerations for allergy-friendly recipes before concepts like customer needs and market segmentation had names. There was also a brief period involving a Hello Kitty cotton candy machine, snow cones, homemade punch, and what could only loosely be described as a fully integrated bakery/refreshment operation. Then came the stress ball era. Using beach sand and balloons, Shelby created homemade stress balls and began selling them at school. Demand increased enough that eventually the principal had to intervene after students started spending lunch money on inventory.
That mindset followed Shelby into engineering and eventually became the foundation for everything that came next. Through engineering work terms across consulting, industrial automation, community development, and entrepreneurship, she continued developing technical skills while strengthening something that had always been there—the confidence to create opportunities instead of waiting for them and gather friends like Ally to help her build them.
